Madikwe Game Reserve offers 75000 hectares of prime Game Viewing including Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo, and Rhino. The Madikwe Game Reserve boasts the ‘Big Five’ in 65 000 hectares of a wide variety of habitat types – mountain plateaus, rocky ravines, varied Acacia Bushveld, open savanna grassland and riverine forest. Madikwe is a big 5 reserve in a malaria free area. As well as the Big Five, Madikwe offers fantastic opportunities to view the rare and endangered Wild Dog which is a mega “tick” on any game viewers list. There is also extensive plains game and over 340 species of birds to attract your attention.
Here, in the wilderness, bordered by Botswana to the north – a mere one hour drive from Gaborone, the greater Madikwe Game Reserve boasts exquisite world class safari lodges. To fully enjoy the beauty of the area, one can visit one of the luxuriously appointed lodges indicated below.
TAU GAME LODGE
Comfort and privacy abound in the 30 air-conditioned luxury chalets overlooking a waterhole and true African Bushveld. En-suite facilities with private viewing deck, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, coffee and tea making facilities and a mini bar. Indoors and outdoors merge effortlessly ensuring you magnificent views of the bush. Other facilities include boma, swimming pool. Tau is an ideal conference venue, offering accommodation and full facilities for up to 50 delegates.

| BUFFALO RIDGE – The lodge has 8 suites, each with their own viewing deck, decorated in natural hews of colour and texture, offering a very private and luxurious experience. The thatched suites, with sliding doors from each room and shower allow the guest to experience an oneness with the bushveld. | MOTSWIRI SAFARI LODGE – The lodge lies hidden in the bush, an exclusive lodge offering a maximum of 10 people a bush experience which is impossible to replicate in larger concerns. Five luxury double bedrooms are available around the main lodge. All 5 bush villas have air-conditioning, ceiling fans, gas fireplaces, en-suite bathrooms, outdoor rock showers and private wrap around wooden decks. |
| THAKADU RIVER LODGE – The lodge is set within the riverine canopy along the banks of the Marico River and comprises twelve tented suites, each with their own viewing deck overlooking the Marico River. The tents are large and spacious and are wonderfully decorated and appointed. Within the canvas frame, the interior is uniquely designed to incorporate a full bathroom. Each tent has a sliding door that opens onto a private deck overlooking the river. |
| TUNINGI SAFARI LODGE – Tuningi Safari Lodge can accommodate 16 (sixteen) guests in exclusive villas and the lodge itself has been designed in such a way that it can be divided for families, intimate groups or VIP’s in search of utter privacy – a concept that is unique to Tuningi.
