During Botswana’s summer season short afternoon showers and verdant vegetation produce a profusion of new life: antelope and plains game give birth to their young followed by opportunistic predators, colourful migrant birds arrive and flowers and fruits abound. Adventure Safaris camps are perfectly situated in the country’s premier wildlife arenas – the Okavango, Linyanti/Selinda and the Central Kalahari – where guests can watch the eternal cycle of life play out.

In the Okavango, lush floodplains attract grazers giving birth to young and multiple predators following. For birders this is the best time of year, with the arrival of abundant migrants and nesting colonies active in impressive numbers. The specialised sitatunga and red lechwe thrive during this time of the year.. In the Linyanti and Selinda areas, the floodplains surrounding Zibadianja Lagoon and the upper reaches of the Savute Channel produce the best game viewing over the summer months with access to open grasslands allowing easy spotting. Predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog are all resident. At present, the Savute Channel is in a thrilling state of change. For a quarter of a century, the Channel was dry, creating wide-open grassland. In 2008 the waters returned, and Adventure Safaris guests now have front-row seats to view the abundant game that has congregated and adapted in its wake.

A surcharge will apply for bookings between 20 December 2009 – 9 January 2010
