Second largest game reserve in the world, the Central Kalahari Game Reserve lies in the heart of the vast Kalahari Desert. Mostly flat with gentle waves of grassy, sandy dunes and four fossilized rivers, the reserve offers visitors peace and beauty during their game-viewing experience.
Game found here includes giraffe, brown hyena, warthog, cheetah, wild dog, leopard, lion, wildebeest, eland, kudu and red hartebeest. Game is often found lazing under large trees on scorching days and attracted to river valleys fossilized with salt pans.
The interesting lifestyle of the San people, who have inhabited the land for thousands of years, draws tourists to the reserve and guests are able to learn about the history and culture of these people on guided walks.
